What Construction Surveying Does
Construction surveying is the process of translating construction plans into physical points on the ground that serve as the basis for the actual construction. It operates in all three dimensions — providing the horizontal location of new improvements, and the vertical information required to ensure surfaces drain and pipes flow as required.
Survey measurements made prior to and during construction are used to control elevation, horizontal position, dimensions, and configuration — stakeout of line and grade for buildings, fences, roads, and everything in between.
The results are visible everywhere. Virtually every building, roadway, and man-made improvement in the city involved some amount of construction surveying to get built where it stands today.

Construction Stake Out
Stake Out is performed when a surveyor takes information from an approved set of plans — typically provided by an engineer, planner, or architect — and marks it on the ground, usually with wooden stakes and nails, to show contractors exactly where to build or excavate. Vertical control points, known as benchmarks, are established at the same time. We perform stakeout surveys for new foundations, piles, utilities, and many others.
